Church donates items to the needy and institutions

Asamankese (E/R), April 27, GNA – The Seventh Day Church of Christ Mission of Ghana on Thursday donated items worth about 500 million cedis to some needy persons and institutions at Asamankese.

The items included 500 pieces of cloth, bags of rice, fruits and provisions, white canes and clutches among other items. The beneficiaries included the Ghana Police Service, Department of Social Welfare, Asamankese Government Hospital, Ghana National Fire Service, Akyem Osenase S.O.S village and the physically challenged among others.

Presenting the items, Apostle Ephraim K. Danso, Missionary in charge of the church said the gesture was aimed at assisting especially the physically challenged and the needy persons to live meaningful lives.

He said the church’s money belonged to God and therefore, it must be shared to his people, who were in dire need. Apostle Danso expressed concerns about the plight of the physically challenged, whom more often than not, were ignored by society and appealed to other churches to assist in rehabilitating them. Mr Kwabena Sintim Aboagye, West Akyem District Chief Executive, expressed his appreciation to the church and urged other religious organisations to emulate it.

He urged churches to instil Christian values in their congregation and to admonish them to lead righteous lives worthy of emulation. Mr Baba Jamaa, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was the guest of honour, commended the government on its decision to return mission schools to the churches, which he said would help promote discipline among school children.
