Takoradi, July 31, GNA – The Very Reverend Emmanuel Ebo-Walters, Western Regional Manager of Methodist Schools, said on Sunday that Christians should redouble their efforts to win more souls for Christ. He said the Methodist Church, which is 170 years old in Ghana, had not done enough in evangelism but had performed excellently in the provision of education, health, vocational, and technical training for the youth. He was preaching at the Christ The King Methodist Church at on Sunday to commemorate 170 years of Methodism in Ghana.
The theme for the celebration is: “170 years of Ghana Methodism, The Heritage of the Church and the Challenges of the 21st Century”. He said the founding fathers of the Church gave off their best and urged the present generation to work hard by propagating the gospel. Rev Ebo-Walters said the focus of the youth should be to move from the cities to the rural communities where many Churches lack qualified personnel to lead them.
He appealed to the Church to make budgetary allocations for evangelical work within the communities.
Rev. Ebo-Walters urged all Methodists to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them to enjoy its benefits. “It would be unfortunate for us as Christians to remain unconcerned and allow our people to suffer from poor health” he said.
