Christians urged to uphold tenets of their religion

Accra, Oct. 26, GNA – Right Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, on Sunday urged Christians in the country to defend the tenets of their religion and consider Jesus Christ as their saviour.

He said “Many Christians look elsewhere when problems rear their heads but I will urge you all not to put your faith in any other god but in Jesus Christ who has solutions to all problems”.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso was preaching the sermon under the theme “Putting on the Bold Amour of God”, at Mataheko branch of the Church, at thanksgiving service, on the occasion of its 20th Anniversary celebration.

He asked Christians to be prayerful to avert plans of the devil and that “Poverty, religious intolerance, diseases, terrorism, murder and the worship of Satan have gained grounds because Christians are not praying”.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso asked Christians to be righteous, truthful, prayerful and steadfast to be able to overcome all problems. He urged Christians and leaders of the country to propagate the message of peace and allow Christ to steer all affairs. Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso urged the congregation to use the celebration to reflect on challenges facing the Church and the nation and determine the way forward.

He appealed to them not to become complacent by their achievements but to work harder for the growth of the Church and to eschew gossiping and nagging.

Rev. Samuel Adjei, the Minister in charge of Mataheko branch of the Church, said “From a humble beginning in a classroom at J.T. cluster of schools at Mataheko with only ten members twenty years ago, we now have about 500 members and have also been able to put up this magnificent edifice and established a private school.”

The Church awarded certificates to ten members, who have contributed to the development of the Church.
