Agogo (Ash), June 25, GNA – Christians have been urged to honour their civic responsibilities alongside their commitment to church activities to promote good governance.
The Reverend David Kofi Anokye, Chairperson of Asante-Akim Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church, who made the call, said Christians were role models in society, hence it was incumbent on them to spearhead the national cause.
He was speaking at a three-day conference of the Asante-Akim Presbytery Singing Band Union at Agogo under the theme, “Go Ye Therefore and Make Disciples of all Nations”.
About 2,000 delegates drawn from Agogo, Bompata, Obogu, Odumase, Asiwa, Domeabra, Juaso and Konongo attended the conference. According to Rev. Anokye, being a good Christian does not mean defying rules and regulations governing society and entreated Christians to exhibit a high sense of nationalism in their daily activities. Miss Emelia Osaadu, Deputy Co-ordinating Director of Asante-Akim South District Assembly, urged the delegates to make the education of their children a priority in order to secure a better future for them. She said education was an inalienable right that must not be denied any child and implored parents to complement government’s efforts to make education accessible to all.
Miss Osaadu further charged parents to instil discipline in their children at tender age to help curb the increasing rate of indiscipline in society.
