Christians urged to confront societal challenges

The Right Reverend Moses Quayson, Methodist Bishop of Effiduase, has entreated Christians to strive to positively transform the society for our own wellbeing.

He said the world is being confronted with unprecedented development challenges borne out of the lack of quality leadership, economic hardships, greed, poverty, ignorance and indiscipline.

The situation, he said, had caused a steady rise in corrupt practices and moral decadence, noting that the onus lies on the church to respond appropriately to addressing these issues.

Right Rev. Quayson, who was addressing a conference of the National Union of Methodist Singing Bands at Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, tasked the church to intensify missionary work in all fields of human endeavour for the good of mankind.

The conference was held under the theme: “Witnessing to Christ Today; the Role of the Singing Band in Mobilizing Resources for Ministry”.

The Methodist Bishop reminded the Union that music remained one of the pillars upon which Methodism was built and, therefore, the members ought to be committed to their duty at all times.

Nana Adu Ameyaw II, Chief of Effiduase, lauded the Methodist Church for its avowed mission to transform the society and alleviate the plight of mankind.

Mr Benjamin Afful-Eshun, President of the Union, urged the members to fulfil their financial obligations for effective management of the Union.
