Christians urged to be united to welcome the birth of Christ

The Reverend Michael Owusu Ofori, Assistant Priest at St Kizito Catholic Church, Nima, has called on Christians as they welcome the birth of Christ to be united and love their neighbours as God loves mankind.

Rev Ofori urged all and sundry to believe in the salvation of God and open their hearts to receive His grace because He is with them and would always be there for them.

He made the call at a sermon during a festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in Accra on Monday night.

He called on politicians to promote peace and unity as Christians celebrate the birth of Christ and prepare to enter the New Year.

Rev Ofori urged Ghanaians to have compassion for the vulnerable in society and to help them to become productive citizens in nation building.

He said citizens should use the Yuletide to reflect on ways of solving problems, which impeded national unity and development.

Rev Ofori asked Ghanaians to thank God for a peaceful year and called on the elderly in the society to exhibit love, understanding and patience towards the youth and to assist them to make the right choices in lives.

He said people should be honest, courageous and point-out mistakes in the society even in face of persecution and fight for justice, peace and love to all mankind during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
