The Very Reverend Christopher Andam, Kumasi Diocesan Synod Secretary of Methodist Church Ghana (MCB), has appealed to Christians to live up to their mission statement.
He said the onus lies on them to be development-oriented, noting that feeding the hungry, seeking shelter for the homeless, caring for the poor and salvaging the society from evil deeds ought to engage the attention of Christians.
In addition, they should also mobilise resources with the view to improving the infrastructural base of deprived communities to bolster quality education and health delivery, as well as developing the skills and leadership qualities of the youth.
Very Reverend Andam said this when addressing the opening session of the second biennial general meeting of the Kumasi Circuit Lay Movement Council of the MCG in Kumasi on Saturday.
“Witnessing to Christ Today; Mobilising our Resources Together for Mission”, was the theme for the event.
The meeting was to serve as a platform for the Council to evaluate its performance over the years in order to strategize effectively for its sustainable development.
Very Reverend Andam entreated the Lay Movement to strive to coordinate activities of all organizations in the church so as to streamline their programmes in line with the MCG’s overall agenda.
He said this was critical to stem unnecessary tension and rivalry that could derail their focus.
Mr. U. K. Boateng, Chairman of the Movement, said his outfit would liaise effectively with the clergy to achieve the mission statement of the church adding that efforts have been intensified to broaden their scope of evangelism to win more souls for Christ.
