The Presidency has announced that the Children’s Support Fund, created to provide for the welfare and education of children who lost their parents in the August 6 helicopter crash, has so far accumulated GH¢2.315 million.
The fund, launched by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, August 15, 2025, is intended to guarantee long-term care for the dependents of the victims.
According to a public notice issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Stanbic Bank Ghana made the first seed contribution of GH¢500,000.
The statement, signed by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, further listed contributions from several companies, including Procus GH Limited, GB Foods Ghana, Sunda FM Manufacturing Ltd, Sage Distribution Ltd, Quantum Oil Terminals, Quantum LPG Logistics Ltd, Newgas Cylinder Ltd, and Quantum Terminals PLC.
Dr. Sawyerr noted that the full list of donors will be published weekly to ensure transparency. She also explained that donations may be made through designated Stanbic Bank Ghana accounts in both cedis and US dollars, with cheques and drafts payable to Children Support Fund 6825.
The Presidency expressed optimism that the current GH¢2.315 million will grow in the coming weeks to provide sustained support for the affected children.
