Children told to appreciate their mothers

Pastor Mark Aidoo, Head Pastor of the Windy Ridge Assemblies of God Church, has entreated society to appreciate mothers for their tender care and immense contributions to the development of the country.

He said the youth of today had little respect for authority, particularly to their mothers, and mentioned abuses such as insults, fighting and disowning of mothers, particularly older mothers, for disciplining them.

Pastor Aidoo said this during a special service for the women’s ministry of the church under the theme: “Mothers, You Are Worth Celebrating,” in Takoradi.

He noted how some mothers go through suffering and in some cases sell their belongings to raise their children, and encouraged all mothers to keep up with their good works.

Mrs. Elizabeth Aidoo, Head of the Women’s Ministry, said women must not give up to thinking, a contributory factor to the rise of depression cases recently.

Madam Mary Ofori, a storekeeper at Nkenya, a suburb of Sekondi, recounted how she had to single-handedly take care of her six children after her husband lost his job.

She said, “I had to wake up the night to prepare pastries which sustained us for a while, then I changed to plastic business and now sell second handbags and other products.”
