Bolgatanga (U/E), Sept. 23, GNA – Pe Charles Awampaga, Paramount Chi= ef of the Paga Traditional Area and president of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, has called on politicians to guard against the use of indecent and intemperate language.
Pe Awampaga said this when he addressed the Regional House of Chiefs a= t a meeting in Bolgatanga, saying using indecent language would not win the confidence of the people.
He said the nation needed peace and development and asked all irrespective of one’s political affiliation, religion and ethnic differen= ces to end any negative behaviour during the forth coming elections. He urged members of the house of chiefs to deliberate on the setting u= p of mediation committees at traditional council’s levels to address chieftaincy disputes.
He appealed to government to help facilitate the activities of the house with a transport since attendance to functions in public transport delayed proceedings at such meetings. He also called for expedited action on the refurbishment of the building and furniture of the House which he said were in a deplorable state. Mr Mark Woyongo assured the chiefs of government’s commitment to promote the chieftaincy institution.
