Chief warns against activities of land guards

Amasaman (G/A), Dec. 29, GNA – Nii Gyasi Ashong, Chief of Abenease, near Amasaman in the Ga District has warned that any land guard caught in the area would be made to face the full rigours of the law. He called on other chiefs in the area to stop engaging the activities of land guards and find solutions to land disputes through the courts.

Nii Ashong who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Amasaman after addressing over 300 people at Abenease to run off the Christmas festivities in the town, said the area lacked development because land developers were always faced with the problem of land guards.

He called on the chiefs and people, especially the youth to unite and be more concerned with development projects in the area, rather than engaging in unproductive ventures, which scare away investors. Nii Ashong urged the people to continue with their communal spirit to support the government in its developmental efforts.

He called on Abenease citizens abroad to visit home regularly to contribute to the ongoing electrification and other self-help projects in the community. 29 Dec 03
