Chief of Kaasi to be buried on February 5

Kumasi, Jan 19, GNA – The body of the late Nana Owusu Yaw Ababio, Chief of Kaasi in Kumasi, will be laid to rest at the Kaasi Royal Mausoleum on Thursday, February 5. Nana Ababio, 74, who reigned for 34 years, died on November 28, 2008 after a short illness.

Nana Akwasi Boakye, Krontihene of Kaasi told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi at the weekend that the three-day mourning ceremony would begin on Tuesday, February 3 while Nana Ababio would be laid in state until his burial on Thursday. He said Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, had been duly informed as custom demanded and appealed to residents of Kaasi to comport themselves during the funeral. Nana Ababio left behind two wives and 10 children.
