Chief Executive calls for support

Bamang (Ashanti), 29 Jan ’99 – Mr Ernest Opoku-Fofie, Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE) has appealed to the people for support to accelerate the pace of development in the District. They should rally around as one people with common aspirations in support of the programmes of the assembly. Mr Opoku-Fofie was speaking at separate durbars organised by the chiefs and people of Bamang and Amanpe when he toured the area . He urged the chiefs and the elders to patch up their differences and unite to nominate and install new chiefs for the area. The children in the town prefer to engage in making crafts instead of going to school and the DCE urged their parents to do to devise a means to enable them combine both. He said chiefs, unit committees and assembly members should work together to enhance the democratic process and the development of the community. Nana Adom Frempong, Chief of Amanpe, in a welcoming address asked him to see to the causes of disturbances that have brought division and disunity among the people of Bamang and Amanpe.
