Chief appeals for reconstruction of broken down bridge

Coaltar (E/R), Oct. 2, GNA – The Chief and people of Agyeikrom, a cocoa growing community in the Eastern Region have passionately appealed to the Government to reconstruct a broken down bridge over river Ayensu that services the community.

The broken down of the bridge after a heavy down pour last week had compelled the farmers in the area to walk more than ten kilometres to Coaltar and Dokorochiwa to sell their farm produce.

Nana Sakyi Agyei, Chief of Agyeikrom, who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Coaltar said meanwhile, the people through communal labour have rehabilitated a three-kilometre feeder road in the area. He called on the Government to come to their aid by expediting action in the reconstruction of the bridge, otherwise the farmers’ toils would be in vain, since a lot of foodstuffs from the area would go waste.
