Chief appeals for assistance from Guinness Breweries

Apam (C/R), Sept. 29, GNA- The chief of Apam, Nana Effrim has appealed to Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited to assist the needy but brilliant children from Apam by offering them scholarships to enable them complete their education.

He said most children in the area could not complete their education due to poverty and most end up at the beaches as fishermen, hawkers or just loitering around. Nana Effrim made the appeal when Guinness Limited presented assorted drinks of their products, a number of “T” Shirts and a cheque to Nana Effrim towards the annual Akwambo festival of the people of the Area.

He also appealed to the company to help renovate the Apam Town Hall where a library complex is to be housed, as part of their efforts to promote education in the district. Mr. Kingsley Edu-Baffoe, Central Regional Manager of the company presented the items and the cheque on behalf of the company. The festival, which started on Tuesday, Sept. 25 would end today with a grand durbar at Apam.
