Vea (U/E), Nov 27, GNA- The chief and people of Vea in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region on Thursday appealed to the government, the Bongo District Assembly, the Irrigation Company of Upper Region (ICOUR) and NGOs to consider constructing a bridge over the spillway of the Vea Irrigation Dam.

This would enable them to cart their farm produce to the nearby market centres and also link up with other neighbouring communities for interactions.

The chief of the area, Naba Thomas Azubire 11, made the appeal at an emergency meeting with his elders, the head teacher and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Vea Primary School.

He also appealed to the government, Bongo District Assembly and NGOs to provide the area with hand dug wells fitted with pumps to enable them to obtain potable water.

Naba Azubire, who is also a government appointee at the Bongo District Assembly, cautioned defaulters of the poverty alleviation fund to pay their loans to enable others to benefit from it.

Headteacher of the Vea Primary School, Mr Jacob Asaani, appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to post more teachers to the school.
