Chief advises party supporters

Accra, Aug 14, GNA – Nii Tetteh Tsuru II, Otuopai Mantse, on Saturday called on supporters of political parties to conduct their activities in a way that would not derail peace and security in the country.

He said the beauty of a democratic society lied in the ability of the people to harmonise their differences for a common good, saying, “This is what we should pray for in the events leading to the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections.”

Nii Tsuru said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during the celebration of the Homowo festival by the Adabraka Otuopai and Okaishie communities in Accra.

He explained that the essence of the festival was to remind the people of their commitment in ensuring peace and unity and expressed the hope that they would live in accordance with the values of the festival.

Nii Tsuru advised them to guard against self-seeking politicians who would like to sow seeds of discord and to concentrate on activities that would unite the people for development.
