Chicago Celebrates Ghana’s 53rd Independence Anniversary.

The Ghana National Council and the Council of Ghanaian Churches in Chicago have lined up activities to mark Ghana’s 53rd Independence Anniversary being celebrated in Ghana and many cities across the globe by Ghanaians in the Diasporas.

Led by one of the greatest sons of Africa, Osagyefo Dr.Kwame Nkrumah and the other founding fathers, of the then-Gold Coast attained its sovereignty from Britain on March 6 1957, becoming the first black African country, south of the Sahara, to do so. The name Ghana was legally adopted after independence. As Ghanaians enjoy the distinguished role of their forefathers in the history of Africa, Ghanaians are again delighted that their country is setting the pace for democratic governance in the continent of Africa.
