CEPS officials attend training course

Kpetoe, V/R April 4, GNA-Brigadier General Richardson Edwin Baiden, Commissioner of Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) on Monday opened an eight- day training course for 18 newly promoted assistant commissioners of the Service at the CEPS Academy at Kpetoe. Brig. Baiden expressed the need for the officials to act and think together to streamline the operations of the Service.

“As managers we must serve as role models to our subordinates. Our actions must be non-discriminatory and transparent ” he noted. Brig. Baiden advised the newly promoted commissioners to provide inspirational and dynamic leadership and create the opportunity for teamwork, mutual respect and effective communication at all levels. “Our task as managers is to encourage, motivate , direct and cooperate with our subordinates in a manner that would yield desirable results” he said.

Brig. Baiden announced that the Service had put in place a revised Strategic Plan, which would serve as the highest policy document for the Service and urged the trainees to get acquainted with the document to enhance their productivity.

Mr Ernest Frimpong-Nuama, Commandant of the Academy announced plans to solve the water problem facing the academy. Mr Kofi Danquah, Assistant Commissioner in charge of Training asked the officers to develop the professional skills and learn to work as a team to meet the challenges facing the Service.
