Catholic Women’s Association marks 50th anniversary

Kumasi, Jan. 21, GNA – Most Reverend Thomas Kwaku Mensah, Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, has urged parents to always pray for their children’s success in future. He said although it was the responsibility of parents to give their children the needed physical protection such as clothing, feeding and education, the act of prayer was critical for them to forestall negative calamities that could hamper their career development. Most Rev. Mensah was preaching a sermon at the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church at Amakom in Kumasi to mark the 50th anniversary celebration of the Catholic Women’s Association (CWA). He bemoaned the high rate at which single parenting was increasing and urged concerned women associations to intensify sensitization programmes that would strengthen marriage couples to exercise much restraint in the face of provocations, misunderstandings and conflicts.

He cautioned nursing mothers or poor fathers not to abandon their children in times of difficulties but pray to God to strengthen them to continue caring for them to safeguard their future. Reverend Father John Bilson-Ogoe, Assistant Parish Priest at the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, appealed to Christians to lead disciplined lives in their endeavours to help salvage society from evil deeds.

Mrs Margaret Anane-Fosu, National President of the CWA, said the association formed in 1959, aims at assisting the training of Catholic priests and to support the needy in society. 21 Jan. 09
