Catholic Agency Gives Bicycles To Teachers

Gambaga (Northen Region), 15 Sept.,

The Catholic Relief Service (CRS) has presented seven bicycles worth 1.2 million cedis and certificates to seven teachers in the East Mamprusi District. The presentation which was done through the Ghana Education Service (GES), was in appreciation of the teachers’ contribution to the success of the education support programme of the district . The CRS also donated relief food items to 42 primary and day nursery schools in the district while 17 selected schools are being considered to be included in the programme next academic year. Girls in some primary schools are also being given extra ration of relief food to encourage girl-child attendance in the schools. Mr. N.N. Yakubu, District Director of Education who made the presentation at Gambaga said the bicycles have been supplied to ensure effective and equitable distribution of the food items to the schools to encourage enrolment and teaching and learning in the district. Mr. Yakubu appealed to the beneficiaries to advise their fellow teachers to keep proper records and work harder to enjoy future supplies. Madam Christiana Kwotuah, one of the beneficiaries thanked the CRS and the GES for the donation and said the food items have helped increase school enrolment
