Businessman in trouble for issuing false cheque

A 40 year-old businessman has been fined GH¢ 720.00 by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for issuing a dud cheque to a transport operator after hiring his vehicle to transact business.

Nicholas Worworyo, who pleaded guilty, would in default serve three months imprisonment in hard labour.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the Court presided over by Mr Justice Alex Obeng Asante that last year the Worworyo hired a vehicle and in April , he issued a First National Bank cheque with the face value of GH¢ 5,000.00 to be cashed by the complainant on April 30.

He said when the complainant presented the cheque it was dishonoured and in June he issued another cheque with the same amount which was also rejected.

Detective Amponsah said a report was made by the complainant to the police and Worworyo was arrested.

The Prosecutor said during investigation the accused refunded the amount involved which was GH¢ 10,000.00 and it was handed over to the complainant.
