Brong Ahafo ICU retains chairman and vice for another term

The Brong Ahafo branch of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) on Wednesday retained Mr Albert Amoah-Frimpong as the Regional Chairman for another four-year term.

Mr Amoah-Frimpong, an employee of the Quality Control Division of Cocobod in Sunyani was returned unopposed in an election, which climaxed a regional delegates’ conference of the union in Sunyani.

His vice, Mr Geofrey Kofi Doagbodjie of the National Investment Bank (NIB) in Sunyani, was also elected unopposed. Two other executives, Mr Bismark Tawiah of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in Sunyani and Ms Juliana Nettey of Batik and Tie and Dye Makers Association, also in Sunyani, were elected first and second trustees respectively.

Mr Amoah-Frimpong pledged to work in harmony with the Regional Industrial Relations Officer and the executive members to place the union on a firm pedestal.

He appealed to members to offer him the maximum cooperation to help improve the achievements of the union.

Mr John Yaw Tandoh, Industrial Relations Officer, expressed appreciation for the retention of the chairman and the election of the other executives, saying their commitment to the cause of the union had resulted in a tremendous increase in the membership of the union.
