British gov’t to support youth entrepreneurship in Ghana

The British High Commissioner has called for support for youth entrepreneurship in the country. Jon Benjamin made the call after a visit to Yonso project and Boombers Bicycles, producers of Bamboo Bicycles at Apaah in the Mampong Municipality.

The British government through its program is supporting youth entrepreneurs in the country. Speaking to ultimate news after a tour of the factory, Jon Benjamin said the British government will provide financial support for entrepreneurs to expand their project.

Booomers International is a subsidiary social enterprise of the Yonso Project, which produces and markets bamboo and accessories on both the Ghanaian and international markets.

The company manufactures different types of bamboo bicycles and accessories such as bicycle stands and baskets. The aim is to help improve transportation and youth employment, mitigate climate change issues as well as alleviate poverty, especially in rural communities.

The Ayonso project during a ceremony at the Apaah in the Mampong Municipality gave out seventy one scholarships to brilliant but needy students and school learning materials, foot wears and uniforms to seventy-one separate students from the district.

Speaking to Ultimate News, the Chief Executive Officer of Yonso project Kwabena Danso said they are committed to supporting rural development with the introduction of scholarships, provision of school learning materials, foot wears and uniforms.

The Ayonso project during a ceremony at the Apaah in the Mampong Municipality gave out scholarships, school learning materials, foot wears and uniforms to seventy students from the district.
