Brakwa (C/R), March 26, GNA – A non-denominational church service was held at Brakwa on Sunday as part of reconciliatory efforts marking the end of a 10 year-old chieftaincy dispute in the area. Both sides of the dispute, led by the Odikro, Nana Yamoah IV, and the queenmother Nana Yaa Asantewaa III, attended the Service, organised by the local Council of Churches. Also in attendance was Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domso, the District Chief Executive.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Council, Peter Effah, said it was imperative to reconcile the community leaders to pave way for development. On his part, Nana Yamoah, the Odikro, announced to the congregation that the litigation was over and that he would welcome the others to his palace. He urged the people, including his supporters, to bury and forget entirely about the dispute and focus on developing the area’s natural resources to the benefit of the community.
The queenmother also appealed for unity and urged the people to take the education of the girl-child seriously. She advocated the counselling of the youth to enable them grow up to become useful members of the community.
