Boy killed by taxi at Kansaweredo

Kansaweredo (WR), Oct.17, GNA – Nana Nathaniel Essel, 18, died instantly when he was knocked down by a taxi at Kansaweredo near Takoradi.

The body of the deceased had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Mr.Daniel Dzakah, Western Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Police, confirmed the tragedy to GNA on Saturday.

He said Joseph Odoom, the taxi driver, has been apprehended by the Police and was assisting in investigations.

Mr. Dzakah said Odoom was driving at top speed from Windy-Ntankoful road towards Kansaweredo.

He said the driver attempted to avoid a head-on-collision with an oncoming vehicle and veered off the road and hit Essel, who was riding a bicycle at Kansaweredo.
