Bosomtwe NHIS pays 938 million cedis as claims

Kuntanase (Ash), Aug 07, GNA – The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District has, since the inception of the scheme in August last year, disbursed about 938 million cedis as claims.

Mr Felix Osei Bonsu, Scheme Manager, told the Ghana News Agency at Kuntanase on Monday that 588 million cedis had been collected as premiums.

About 58 million cedis, which represent 10 per cent, have been paid as commission to collecting agents.

Within the same period, he said, the scheme registered 33,287 people out of which 6,084 were fully paid.
