Bolgatanga MP furnishes health facilities

Bolgatanga, Jan 19, GNA – The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Mr Opam Brown Akolbire, has presented items to the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate to be presented to four Community Health Planning and Services Compounds (CHPS) to furnish their facilities. The items included four sets of living room furniture, four stoves and cylinders, television sets, benches, tables and chairs, eight beds and mattresses, four poly tanks and the renovation of one CHPS compound at the cost of GH¢25,000.

Presenting the items to the Municipal Health Director, Mrs. Joyce Bagina, Mr. Akolbire said during the campaign period one of the concerns raised by most of the communities was the need for healthcare to be brought to the doorsteps of the people. He said he had built four CHPS with his share of the Common Fund and support from the Municipal Assembly.

Mr. Akolbire said he had to lobby the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for funding to furnish the CHPS. He said plans were far advanced to link the CHPS compounds to the National Electricity Grid and added that the government would link all communities in the region to the national grid this year including all health facilities in rural areas.

Mrs Bagina said staff had already been trained for the compounds and appealed for more support from individuals and organisations. Mr Akolbire also inspected some school projects he initiated with support from GETFund and his share of the Common Fund.
