Bolga Municipal Assembly displays trophy

Bolgatanga, Sept. 10, GNA – The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly on Thursday displayed its award for being the cleanest municipality in the country in the year 2004.

The award was conferred on the assembly at his year’s municipal launch of sanitation week held in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo regional capital.

Showing the trophy to a large crowd of residents of Bolgatanga who had thronged the Plaza Square for the launch of the year’s sanitation week in the municipality, the Chief Executive, Mr. Rockson Ayine Bukari, said the assembly is proud to share the honour with the entire members of the society.

He saluted the chiefs, market women, butchers, members of the GPRTU, dressmakers, hairdressers, students and non-governmental organisations in the sanitation sector, and said they acted in a conscious manner to sustain the efforts in keeping the municipality clean.

Mr. Bukari thanked the residents of Bolgatanga for their commitment and dedication to the assembly’s appeal to them to keep the environment clean.

He gave the assurance that the assembly would do everything in its power to ensure that it improves the sanitation situation in the municipality.

He appealed to landlords to provide toilet facilities in their homes to curb the incidence of tenants easing themselves indiscriminately outside. 10 Sept. 04
