Board members to contribute to development of school

Akrofuom (Ash), March 4, GNA – Members of the Board of Governors of Akrofuom Secondary/Technical School in the Adansi West District of Ashanti have resolved to contribute 50,000 cedis monthly to the development of the school.

The decision was taken after the out-going headmaster of the school, Mr S.N.K. Owusu, presented a report to the board at its meeting at Akrofuom on Wednesday.

Mr. Owusu said the school employed a part-time chemistry tutor to facilitate teaching and learning.

Mr Owusu said the school’s vehicle had been rehabilitated at the cost of 24.3 million cedis of which an outstanding balance of five million and fifty-five thousand cedis was yet to be paid. He said the school had requested the Ghana Education Service (GES) to include general arts to the existing programmes.

Mr Fosu commended the headmaster for “starting so well in the school” and wished him success in his new school.

The board members, however, felt the GES had slighted them for not seeking their co-operation before transferring the headmaster. They had therefore resolved to write to the Regional Director of Education to register their protest against the transfer of Mr Owusu from the school.
