Boafo to contest NPP primaries at Adansi Asokwa

Adansi Asokwa (Ash), March 26, GNA – Mr Owusu Ansa Boafo, a citizen of Adansi-Asokwa in the Ashanti Region based in the United Kingdom on Saturday picked his forms to contest the parliamentary primaries at Adansi Asokwa Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Boafo, 59, and a staunch member of the party in the UK and Ireland branch, represented the branch at the last December delegate’s conference of the party at Legon, Accra, where Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo was elected flag bearer.

A current Secretary of the Party’s Council of Elders in the UK and Ireland, Mr Boafo said he was more than qualified to contest the primaries and go ahead to represent the people in Parliament in 2009. He told the press after picking the forms that “I am confident that 2009 is the right time for me to represent my people in Parliament. After all, in life there is time for everything”.

The aspiring parliamentary candidate said despite the fact that he was a native of Asokwa, his personal life experience made him the right person to represent the people in parliament.

Mr Boafo, a freelance Sociologist and an Addictive Behaviour Specialist from the South Bank University, London and Saint George’s Hospital Medical School of the University of London, said his chances of winning the primaries and going ahead to win the seat for the NPP was bright.

“I am not going to use money to win votes. My ideas, philosophy and conviction will allow me win the primaries. My own survey has proved that the people at the grassroots wanted a positive change and I, Owusu Ansa Boafo can provide the change,” he said.

The parliamentary aspirant who had since 1996 been a member of the party at the Adansi Asokwa Constituency and had made special contributions to the party, said he knew the plight of the people in the area and that he was more than prepared to offer the kind of leadership that would help address their problems.

“I will offer the kind of leadership that would help address social welfare, public health and environmental issues of the people,” he stressed.

“I am not going to be a dictator. I will endeavour to help address the people’s basic needs,” he said, stressing, “with this vision I can maintain the seat for NPP”.

Mr Boafo said one of his objectives was to help revive the brick and tile factory and sawmill at Asokwa and also lobby for the establishment of rural industries to help generate jobs for the people, especially the youth.

He advised the citizenry to begin to vote for people who would listen to their needs and also be prepared to serve them.
