BNI grabs 4 Lebanese for forgery

The Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) has arrested four Lebanese nationals for alleged forgery.

The four, one of whom is called Ishmael Yahyah, were arrested at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Monday with different names in their French passports.

They were subsequently arraigned before an Accra circuit court presided over by Aboagye Tandoh yesterday and were remanded into BNI custody until December 14, 2015.

The court could not take the plea of the four persons because only one of them could understand the English language.

The trial judge ordered the registrar of the court to arrange for an Arabic interpreter to assist the accused persons to appreciate the charges for which they had been hauled before the court.

The court told the prosecution, led by DSP Idan Dery, to allow the accused persons to communicate with their relatives.

That was after they had requested the court to allow them to call their relatives.
