The Member of Parliament for Afigya Sekyere East, David Hennric Yeboah, says radio presenter and musician Blakk Rasta’s comment that a good number of members of parliament in Ghana’s August House smoked weed, is a national security matter.
The comments he’s said must be probed thoroughly.
Yeboah, one of several persons who led the campaign for Rasta to be invited to parliament for questioning told Anopa Kasapa host Fiifi Banson that the issue goes beyond just legalizing it.
“All over the World, wee smoking is against the law. You remember Peter Torch who first led the campaign for the legalization of wee was barred from traveling to America.”
“The issue is already wired on the internet, and for legislators who are supposed to know better, the legal implications of the substance, are alleged to be patronizing it, then on the world stage the integrity of the Ghanaian legislator will be compromised.
“This is a slap on the integrity of parliamentarians, he must be brought to book.
The controversial radio host is reported to have said that about 80 percent of Members of Parliament smoked marijuana and did not see why they’ve not pushed for its legalization.
His comments have irked the parliamentarians who have subsequently asked for him to appear before the Privileges Committee.
