Kumasi, June 25, GNA – The Ghana First Movement, a non-political organization in Kumasi, has described the achievements of the Ghana’s Black Stars in the on-going world Cup football tournament as “a victory for reconciliation, unity and peace” in the country.
Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Friday after the Black Stars’ 2-1 victory over the USA, Nana Osei Bonsu, chairman of the movement, said the joy, excitement and jubilation by Ghanaians were positive signs that should re-unite and reconcile Ghanaians irrespective of their political divide.
“Every honest, responsible and meaningful Ghanaian should help promote oneness for sustainable economy, peace and stability through the achievement of the Black Stars”, he said.
Nana Osei Bonsu contended that the national football team’s achievements would only be meaningful to the nation if there were absolute unity and brotherliness among the citizenry.
The great services rendered by the young footballers, he said, should manifest in the quality of life of the youth to attain economic security, discipline and loveliness.
Nana Osei Bonsu advised the youth to emulate the footballers achievements and not dissipate their energy on activities that tend to retard the progress, peace and stability of the country.
He noted that the future direction of the country greatly depended on the youth and advised them to re-direct their physical and mental prowess to promote accelerated development of the country.
