Bishop Martin Darko urges Christians to eschew materialism

Essikadu(W/R),Dec.6, GNA-The Right Reverend Martin Darko, the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocesan Bishop of the Catholic Church, has advised Christians to eschew materialism and focus on heavenly things. He said most Christians today clamour for prosperity and material gains and had relegated matters of spirituality that would lead them to heaven to the background. Bishop Darko who was preaching the sermon at St Theresa Catholic church annual harvest at Essikadu at the weekend, admonished Christians to eschew immoral acts that tarnish their reputation in the society. He said harvest is a period to ask for God’s favour, grace and long life and as Christians “we should clean our hearts from all evil thoughts and deeds”. The church raised GHc30, 000 from the harvest. 06 Dec.10
