Bishop Lodonu calls for celebration of “family feast”

Ho, July 29, GNA – The Most Rev Francis Lodonu, Bishop of Ho Diocese= of the Catholic Church, has called for the setting aside of a day for the “celebration of Family Feast.”

He said such celebrations would promote family re-unions and help children and other family members to know each other. Most Rev Lodonu made the call when Dr. Victoria Minkah and Nana Kwame Adom, both Ghanaians who had been living outside the country with their families for over four decades, decided to get married in Ho to re-unite with their families.

The homecoming attracted families from the home regions of the couple, Volta and Ashanti regions and friends from the US where they reside. Bishop Lodonu described the extended family system as a very important aspect of the Ghanaian culture which should not be left to whittle. “The economy is inhibiting this aspect of our culture but we have to work hard for it to stand the test of time,” he said.

Bishop Lodonu therefore urged families to extend helping hands to others beyond their nuclear families as was done in the past.
