Birim Bridge being rehabilitated at a cost of GHC 210,000

Akyem Oda, Jan. 13, GNA – Rehabilitation work is progressing steadily on the Birim Bridge at Akyem Oda that the Ghana Highways Authority is undertaking at a cost of GHC 210,000.

The work is expected to be completed within three months. This came to light when Ms Ophelia Koomson, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, inspected progress of work on the bridge. Mr Courage Yakubu, Project Manager, Bridge Maintenance Unit, Ghana Highways Authority, said the rehabilitation includeed repair of steel structures and construction of two decks. There would be two Ganpries at the approaches to the bridge to prevent vehicles wider than the bridge from using it. Ms Koomson expressed gratitude to the government for rehabilitating the bridge and appealed to the government to consider constructing a new bridge in future to replace the present one.
