Bird Flu outbreak becoming major concern to poultry farmers

The outbreak of Avian Influenza in Ghana has become a major concern to most poultry farmers.

The virus was detected in May this year and called for serious sensitization for its eradication.

To this end, the Veterinary Department of the Metropolitan Assembly and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, MOFA, have organised a forum on how best to address the menace.

The Deputy Director of the Accra Veterinary Department, Dr Kwadwo Obeng Wiredu said the virus has destroyed most poultry farms in the country.

He said it is time the media got involved in awareness creation so as to curb the spread.
