Bimbilla death toll rises to 6 as 17 get arrested

Four more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of the Chief of Bimbilla, Naa Dasana Abdulai Andani II.

This brings to seventeen the number of suspects rounded up by the Police in the Bimbilla Township. The additional suspects were picked up from Nkwanta in the Volta Region.

The Bimbila Chief and five others were killed in fresh clashes that erupted in the town last Thursday.

The death toll has, however, risen to six as another person who sustained gunshot injuries passed on at the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Monday morning.

The Northern Regional Minister at a press conference in the Northern Regional capital announced the number of people arrested so far.

Alhaji Limuna Muniru disclosed that National Security operatives are interrogating the District Chief Executive for Nanumba North District, Alhaji Ibn Abass, over the issue.

The Bimbila District Police Commander, ASP Charles Tetteh, under whose watch the chief was murdered is also being interrogated.

The regional minister assured, “our security agencies are serious with their investigation and working hard day and night to ensure that all the perpetrators of the act are fished out and made to face the law.”

Meanwhile, the police is still calling for more information from the public to apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
