Tema, Aug. 10, GNA – The Tema Branch of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) has established a Vocational and Modelling Institute to train their members to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

The Reverend Jonathan Akwaanda, Tema Regional Chairman of the Association, announced this at the inauguration of the Bethlehem/Michel Camp branch of GNTDA at Bethlehem near Tema on Saturday.

He said skill and knowledge upgrading plays very important role in every profession, hence the establishment of the Institute.

Rev. Akwanda said the GNTDA would ensure, that all tailors, dressmakers and fashion, designers are brought under one umbrella to fight for a, common goal and also foster good relationship and development in the trade.

He said to curtail the delays in clearance of goods in shops by clients, the Association has initiated a mechanism where customers would be compelled to make part-payment for their orders.

Rev. Akwanda charged the newly-inaugurated association to strive hard and weed out corruption, which, he said, has eaten deep into the Ghanaian society.

Mr Samuelson Tetteh Alenge, Assemblyman for Kakasunanka Electoral Area in the Kpone/Katamanso Constituency advised the Association to do away with partisan politics, which he said, may bring the image of the Association into disrepute.

He callled on them to pay their basic rates reguglarly to enable the Tema Municipal Assembly to execute its projects. Mrs Esther Conduah, Chairperson of the Bethlehem/Michel Camp branch of the Association appealed to shop owners to instil a sense of discipline among the people they train. 10 Aug. 03
