Berekum youth rescind decision to resign from NPP

Berekum (B/A), March 28, GNA – About 400 youths at Berekum who resigned from the NPP early this month, alleging that Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey (rtd.), MP for the area, had failed to honour his promises to them, have rescinded their decision.

Mr Kwaku Kankam, Chairman of NPP in the Berekum Constituency told newsmen that the executives of the party had held discussions with the youth who had understood the mechanisms of politicking. He said the party never made the promise to provide their needs within any stipulated time but the poverty alleviation fund could be used to help the youth, who were mainly second-hand clothing dealers, to acquire a fitting site for their activities.

The Chairman noted that since the supporters had “for a long time thrown their weight behind the party, we are also looking for a way to assist them”. Mr Kankam, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the youth took their earlier decision without contacting the NPP executives. He said he was happy that they had come back to join their party and wished them well.
