Benjillo Claims Innocence In Drugs Scandal

A prominent Ghanaian businessman, George Adu-Bonsu popularly known as Benjilo has denied any involvement in drug trafficking even though doubts still exist about that claim.

Benjillo returned from jail, last December, after serving a 10-year jail sentence for possessing illegal substance after a parcel containing cocaine was found in his possession.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Asetenamu Nsem Show, Benjilo said he was framed up in the drug trafficking incident for which he was jailed. He also described his sentence as too harsh.

Narrating the incident Benjillo said the parcel that was delivered at his shop for a friend of his – insisting that he had no idea about what the content was.

Benjilo also described as unfair the decision to impound his upholstery shop, arguing that the shop had its real owners and he only worked there as a manager.

However most of the callers into the Asetenamu Nsem programme challenged Mr Benjilo’s statements. They expressed doubt about his claim of innocence.
