Ben Ephson to NPP: I’m sorry

Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson, has apologised to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) over a publication which claimed the party had a committee advising Ghana’s biggest opposition party to lie to Ghanaians ahead of the December polls.

The NPP took strong exception to the publication. At a press conference addressed by acting General Secretary John Boadu on Wednesday August 18, the NPP asked Mr Ephson to apologise and retract the publication, which the party had described as fabricated and fake.

Mr Boadu said the NPP had no committee engaged in crafting lies to hoodwink Ghanaians into voting for the party in the December polls, contrary to the publication in Mr Ephson’s Daily Dispatch.

Following the criticism, Mr Ephson, in the Thursday, 18 August 2016 issue of the paper wrote: “Retraction & Apology to the NPP – Based on the assertion by the NPP that the said memorandum was not theirs, we retract and apologise to the NPP – Editor.”
