‘Be measured in the criticism of the judiciary’

The Primate of the Brotherhood Church, the Right Reverend S.K.Adofo, has asked everybody to be measured in their criticism of the judiciary in the wake of the recent bribery scandal involving some judges of the high court and the lower bench.

He said, being a human institution, it should be expected that there would be “few bad nuts”, adding that it was in the nation’s interest to avoid condemning and ridiculing the entire judiciary because of the alleged aberration of some of its members.

Primate Adofo, who made the call through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi called on the Judicial Council to be bold to apply appropriate sanctions against any judge or magistrate found to have accepted money to suppress justice.

He said it needed to send a powerful message that acts of corruption would not be tolerated.

What had happened must be a lesson to all – time to do soul searching to amend their ways, he added.

Primate Adolf reminded those put in positions of trust to be disciplined and display high level of morality and refuse to be corrupted.

He said it was important for them to appreciate that there could not be much progress in a society bedeviled by unbridled greed and selfishness.

He expressed concern about the situation where many into church ministry were there just to make money to lead comfortable lives but not to evangelize and save souls.

He rallied genuine Christians to provide leadership to rid the society of corruption, something that required leading noble and upright lives.
