Be circumspect in your quest to seek justice, politicians urged

The chief of Bawia in the Western Nzema Traditional Area, Nana Ngotobia Cato I, has called on the NPP and NDC to be circumspect in their pronouncements and avoid disturbing the peace of the country.

He said recent utterances by some supporters of the two parties, especially the NPP are a threat to the peace of the nation.

Nana Cato made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at his palace at Bawia on Friday.

He said “this is not the first time multi-party elections have been conducted in the country where there has been loser and winner, adding that we have always lived in peace after the elections and same should happen this time”.

He said challenging of the Presidential results should not be at the expense of the peace of the nation as some youth groups are doing on the airwaves threatening violence and mayhem.

It would be recalled that on 28 December, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP Presidential candidate, Dr Mamudu Bawumiah, Running mate to Akufo-Addo and Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, National Chairman of NPP, filed a petitions against the Electoral Commission at the Supreme Court for declaring President John Mahama winner of the December polls.

He appealed to the minority to rescind their decision to boycott vetting of ministers in the interest of their electorate so far as the representation of the people is concerned.

Nana Cato said in view of the checks and balance role the opposition party plays in Parliament, it would undermine the democracy of the nation if the minority continued with their boycott of vetting Presidential nominees.
