Barclays Bank workers at Takoradi resume after a day’s strike

Takoradi, Oct.03, GNA – Brisk business began this morning at the two branches of Barclays bank in Takoradi after Monday’s strike by workers due to a misunderstanding between the workers and management over salaries.

When the Ghana News Agency visited the branches on Tuesday, hundreds of customers including workers, traders, artisans and businessmen formed long queues at the Takoradi main and Harbour branches to transact business after the disappointment on Monday.

Workers who spoke on anonymity said unconfirmed information from their headquarters indicated that all differences with management had been ironed out hence the decision to call off the strike. “We are still waiting for confirmation from our leaders of the settlement with management,” they said.

On Monday customers were left stranded at the precincts of the two branches of the bank when workers joined their colleagues in other parts of the country to embark on the strike action. 03 Oct. 06
