Bagbin never campaigned for me – Minority Leader

The Minority Leader in Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has revealed that the majority leader in Parliament Alban Bagbin never campaigned for him in the run-up to the New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries.

In the run up to the NPP parliamentary primaries, there were reports that Mr. Mensah-Bonsu, who had been in Parliament since 1997 was likely to lose his seat to one Kwadwo Boateng Genfi.

Several NPP MPs and the majority leader were reported to have besieged his constituency to campaign for him.

But the Minority Leader has stated that reports that Bagbin campaigned for him to be retained as the parliamentary candidate for the Suame constituency is absolutely false.

“Bagbin never campaigned for me in my constituency… he never, never campaigned for me,” the Suame MP told Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday.

He, however, clarified that he visited Bagbin’s constituency in the run up to the NDC primaries but not to campaign for him.

“In a way, I would say he endorsed me, but he never came to my constituency, I did go to his constituency, but it was for a different purpose…it was a parliamentary programme,” he added.
