Baba Rahman Recalled to Black Stars Squad Ahead of Unity Cup Clash

In a welcome boost to Ghana’s national football team, experienced left-back Baba Rahman has been recalled to the Black Stars squad ahead of the upcoming Unity Cup.

The 29-year-old defender, who currently plays for Greek side PAOK, makes his return to the national team after a nearly nine-month absence, last featuring in Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic.

Rahman’s recall has been met with enthusiasm by both fans and Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, who is looking to solidify his defensive options ahead of the tournament.

“Baba brings experience, composure, and versatility to the squad,” said a source close to the technical team. “He’s shown tremendous form at club level, and we believe he still has a lot to offer the national team.”

The former Chelsea player has been in impressive form for PAOK, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 46 appearances, a notable tally for a full-back. Known for his tireless work rate and ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch, Rahman’s return offers Ghana both defensive solidity and an added attacking outlet from the flanks.

His recall is also expected to spark healthy competition within the squad, as Coach Addo explores fresh tactical options with a blend of youth and experience.

For many fans, Rahman’s inclusion is more than just a tactical move, it’s a sign of ambition.

“We’ve missed his energy and experience,” said one supporter. “He’s played at the highest level and can guide some of the younger players coming through.”

As the Black Stars gear up for the Unity Cup and beyond, all eyes will be on Rahman to see if he can help drive Ghana to international glory once again.
