Awutu District Assembly sponsoring education of 100 teacher trainees

Awutu Ofaakor (C/R) Feb. 18 GNA-The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly is sponsoring over 100 teacher trainees in various teacher training colleges, to fill the many vacancies existing in schools in the District.

The District Chief Executive, Captain Steve Kwamena Armah (RTD) made this known when he cut the sod for the construction of a Circuit Education office in the Jeikrodua-Kasoa Circuit at Awutu Ofaakor on Thursday.

He disclosed that the District Assembly is spending 1.2 million cedis on each trainee and said after graduation they would be bonded to serve the District for four years. Capt. Armah said education was the bases for socio-economic development hence the need for all stakeholders to develop the sector.

Mr Swanzy Essien, District Director of Education commended teachers in the District for their hard work, which made it possible for the District to place second on the regional assessment record of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, last year 2004.
