Audio: Dwadifo Adanfo depositors demand savings

Depositors of Dwadifo Adanfo, a microfinance institution, Thursday March 3 besieged the Madina branch of the company to demand their deposits.

According to the depositors, the company has not been able to pay back thousands of cedis received from them in savings, in similar fashion to DKM and other sham microfinance companies, which have swindled hundreds of customers in the Brong Ahafo region.

The office of the financial institution remained locked while desperate traders gathered at its premises when Class News’ Atiewin Mbillah visited the office.

This comes a week after President John Mahama blamed the activities of sham microfinance companies on the Bank of Ghana’s weak supervision during his State of the Nation Address to Parliament on February 25.

The governor of the central bank, Dr Kofi Wampah, was expected to brief parliament on measures taken by the bank to solve the DKM and other microfinance crisis in the country on the same day.
